SJC will observe Spring Break from March 17-21, 2025. No classes will be held during this time, but all SJC campuses and offices will remain open with regular hours from Monday, March 17, through Thursday, March 20. On Friday, March 21, all SJC campuses and offices will be closed, with the exception of the HHPC.

Executive VP

Ed DesPlasEdward DesPlas began his tenure at San Juan College as Vice President for Administrative Services in March of 2016. He was promoted to Executive Vice President in August of 2017.

Prior to accepting the position at San Juan College, DesPlas served as the Executive Vice Chancellor of Business Affairs for the Dallas County Community College District, a position he held for nine years. He was responsible for Finance and Accounting, Budget, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Information Technology, Facilities, Risk Management, Insurance Administration, Purchasing, Financial Aid, Educational Resources Support Services, and Auxiliary Enterprises.

In addition, DesPlas has served as an adjunct professor for Southern Methodist University, teaching higher education finance in the Education Policy and Leadership program. He has spent his entire career working in community colleges and has experience in urban, suburban and rural environments.

DesPlas earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Texas in Dallas. He obtained his Master of Science in Human Resources and Training from Amberton University. He received the 2014 Distinguished Business Officer Award from the National Association of College and University Business Officers and the 2002 International Outstanding Chief Business Officer Award from the Community College Business Officers organization.
